Case Study · The Flowers Directory

SEO & Content Strategy for an Online Floral Retailer

Organic traffic change — increased by 45%

The Flowers Directory is an online floral retailer competing in one of e-commerce’s most seasonal, gift-occasion-driven categories — a market dominated by a handful of major national players with decades of domain authority.

The Challenge

Ranking organically against established competitors for high-intent terms while also building content that doesn’t just chase seasonal spikes but holds traffic in the off months.

The Approach:

We started with a technical SEO audit — flower delivery sites tend to accumulate duplicate product pages, slow-loading collection pages, and thin category descriptions that compete against their own listings in search results. From there, we built out buying-guide content answering the actual questions customers search before purchasing (occasion-specific guides, delivery timing, care instructions), rather than just adding more product pages. We restructured internal linking so those guides fed traffic directly into the relevant product collections instead of dead-ending, and added proper schema markup across product listings so search engines could surface pricing and availability directly in results.

The Result:

Organic traffic and rankings for competitive, high-intent terms improved over the engagement, with the content strategy in particular driving sustained non-seasonal traffic rather than the usual Valentine’s/Mother’s Day spikes and troughs. Specific figures are confidential per the client agreement.
